CDC Redmoon
CDC Redmoon is currently the highest yielding small red lentil in the brown and dark brown soil zone with proven performance both in yield trial testing and in field production. In 13 years of testing in the Co-op and Regional trials in Saskatchewan, CDC Redmoon yielded 113% of CDC Maxim in the brown and dark brown soil zones and 107% in the black and dark gray soil zones. Statistical analysis of 8 years of long-term Regional Variety Trial data ranked CDC Redmoon at the top for yield in the brown & dark brown soil zones and 3rd in the black soil zone among 7 historical and new small red lentil varieties. Seed coat colour, cotyledon colour, flowering time, maturity, plant height, disease tolerance and seed weight are similar to CDC Maxim. Seed diameter is slightly less than that of CDC Maxim but seed thickness is higher making CDC Redmoon more suitable for lentil dehulling. CDC Redmoon has PBR’91 protection.
